In 2010, SUNSHINE ACTION ltd ~耀陽行動 started 'Plant the Planet' Program which will plant SUNSHINE-Trees in every country the Sunshine Action volunteers will visit.

Sunshine Action has planted 122'095 Trees, Plants, Fruit Trees & Flowers in Hong Kong, Kenya, China, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Thailand, Nepal...

According to UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM:

An area of a rainforest the size of a football field is being destroyed each second.

Tropical forests cover 23% of the Earth's land surface, but they are disappearing at a rate of 4.6 millions hectares a year. Asia leads loses with 2.2 millions hectares a year, Latin America & the Caribbean together lose 1.9 millions and Africa loses 470'000 hectares of rain forest every year.

More than 5'000 things are made from trees such as houses, furniture, pencils, utensils, fences, books, newspapers, movie tickets even clothing & toothpaste.
Three-quarters of the world's people rely on wood as their main source of energy.

Destruction of forests creates numerous environmental catastrophes, including altering local rainfall patterns, accelerating soil erosion, causing the flooding of rivers, and threatening millions of species of plants, animals and insects with extinction.

On average, each American uses more than 600 pounds of paper and almost 200 board feet of timber per year.

Heat from Earth is trapped in the atmosphere due to high levels of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and other heat-trapping gases that prohibit it from releasing heat into space -- creating a phenomenon known as the "greenhouse effect."

Trees also reduce the greenhouse effect by shading our homes and office buildings. This reduces air conditioning needs up to 30%.
Planting trees remains one of the cheapest, most effective means of drawing excess CO₂ from the atmosphere.

A single mature tree can absorb carbon dioxide at a rate of 48 lbs./year and release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support 2 human beings.

Trees reduce topsoil erosion, prevent harmful land pollutant contained in the soil from into our waterways, slow down water run-off, and ensure that our groundwater suppliers are continually being replenished.
