Sunshine Action Blessing Bags for  Chinese New Year 2010

耀陽農曆新年福寶袋 2010

In JAN 2010, Sunshine Action CNY Blessing Bags cover 1'713 families/cases, beneficiated approx. 2'226 people directly.

Buddhist Ching Kok Secondary School 佛教正覺中學 provided the venue and 80 students as volunteers to help packing the Blessing Food Bags.

黏多醣症的症狀

「黏多醣貯積症」 (Mucopolysaccharidoses) 簡稱「黏多醣症」（英文簡稱 MPS ），是一種先天性遺傳 遺傳基因所引致的 疾病。成因是由於身體的 遺傳基因 細胞缺少了能將黏多醣分解的酵素，當細胞內的黏多醣無法新陳代謝時，便會一直在體內細胞堆積，損害各個器官。

由於黏多醣的堆積是個漸進的過程，因此孩子在剛出生時並無異樣。

隨著年齡的增加，逐漸堆積在體內的黏多醣會損及病童的外貌、智能、內臟器官及骨骼關節，造成面容毛髮粗糙、角膜混濁、智力受損、語言障礙、腹部突出、關節變大、脊椎變形、手指屈曲僵硬、行動不便等現象，以及視力、聽力障礙；其呼吸道會逐漸變窄，同時其分泌物量多且稠，因此容易併發支氣管炎或肺炎。

Families with physically handicapped members - PHAB Association 傷健協會

In Feb-Mar 2008, one of our program is to serve the 'Physically Handicapped' members in association with PHAB; we have distributed materials to help 250 families in several centers.

We combine our food & basic products donations with visits and games with the beneficiated clients.

Cases of potentially Suicidal Members

In Hong Kong, every year, there are nearly 1'000 successfully suicidal cases due to different natures. Together with the Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong, we have carefully selected many cases in which would like to give some products as a caring gesture.

Depression is the major cause of suicidal cases in Hong Kong, currently SBHK handles approx. 13'000 new cases per year. We are soon starting new programs to help peoples in need.

Low income families, specially new comers from Mainland China & Asia Pacific region

New comers often are of low-income families, we selected a group of these families in Mongkok area to distribute the materials of basic needs to help smoothen their economic difficulties.

The first program will help 150 families and would benefit approx. 700 people.

Patients with HIV / AIDS 

from 2006-2007, there are an increase of nearly 25% of new cases. We are hoping to work closely with Aids Concern in some new opportunities.

Single Parents who are struggling to give a lot of love to their children

Single parents often have to struggle alone to maintain their children, therefore this is one of our target group.

Program for Women Workers & female Cleaning workers

In 2008, we started the first program before Chinese New Year to serve the low-income families; thanks from several donors, including UNILEVER HK in material supplies, we have distributed "Fortune Packs" to 100 families, mainly female cleaning workers who are making less than HK$5'000 per month and have to maintain a whole family, without applying any social welfare.

From Feb-March 2008, This program has expanded to 300 families and beneficiated approx. 1'500 peoples.
