母親節是一個感謝母親的節日，而在世界各地的母親節的日期也會有所不同。母親們在這一天里通常會收到禮物；而在許多人心目中，康乃馨被視作最為合適於獻給母親的鮮花之一.

目前所知最早的母親節起源於古希臘。在這一天，古希臘人向希臘眾神之母赫拉致敬。其後17世紀中葉，節日流傳到英國。在這一天里，出門在外的年青人會返家，送給母親一些小禮物

美國的母親節由安娜·賈維斯（Anna Jarvis,1864－1948）發起，她終身未婚，一直陪伴在母親身邊。安娜·賈維斯的母親心地善良，極富同情心，她提出應設立一個紀念日來紀念默默無聞做出奉獻的母親們，可是這個願望尚未實現她就逝世了。她的女兒安娜·賈維斯於1907年開始舉辦活動，申請將母親節成為一個法定節日。1913年，美國國會確定將每年5月的第二個星期日作為法定的母親節，並規定這一天家家戶戶都要懸掛國旗，表達對母親的尊敬。而安娜·賈維斯的母親生前最愛的康乃馨也就成了美國母親節的象徵.

 父親節 是一年中特別感謝父親的節日，約始於二十世紀初。每個國家的父親節日期都不盡相同，也有各種的慶祝方式，大部分都與贈送禮物、家族聚餐或活動有關。世界上有52個國家和地區是在6月的第三個星期日慶祝父親節。與父親節對應還有母親節，是在5月的第二個星期日.

 - 脊髓肌肉萎縮症慈善基金 Spinal Muscular Atrophy(SMA) Charity Assoc.

肌肉萎縮是一種腦內科疾病，有多種不同的類別，其中包括有： 運動神經細胞疾病、脊髓肌肉萎縮症、多發性硬化症、重症肌無力 和肌肉營養不良症。

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a neuromuscular disease characterized by degeneration of motor neurons, resulting in progressive muscular atrophy (wasting away) and weakness.

In all of its forms, the primary feature of SMA muscle weakness, accompanied by atrophy of muscle. This is the result of denervation, or loss of the signal to contract, that is transmitted from the spinal cord. This is normally transmitted from motor neurons in the spinal cord to muscle via the motor neuron's axon, but either the motor neuron with its axon, or the axon itself, is lost in all forms of SMA.
