Organizational Profile

Sunshine Action stands as an international philanthropic organization with operational hubs in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. The year 2025 marked a seminal achievement in our mission, as we expanded our reach to over 1,000 charitable centers and partner organizations spanning 25 countries and regions.

 

Our efforts are propelled by a vibrant, global community of change-makers. This includes our dedicated Sunshine Interns, esteemed Sunshine Ambassadors, and a scholarly consortium of students drawn from 126 premier academic institutions worldwide. Our collaborative network features partners such as Harvard University, the University of Oxford, Hong Kong University, UCL University College London, University of Pennsylvania, New York University, the University of Chicago, the National University of Singapore, CUHK, HKUST, and Columbia University, among others.

 

In pursuit of sustainable impact, we cultivate strategic alliances with global corporate leaders, including Fortune 500 enterprises such as Wells Fargo, Blackstone, BNP Paribas, and Henderson Sunlight, as our collaborative partners in 2025. Our initiatives are strategically aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, actively advancing progress in 14 critical areas. We maintain a primary, concentrated focus on combating food insecurity and alleviating hunger.

As an institution, Sunshine Action is strictly non-religious, apolitical, and non-discriminatory. Our operational model is uniquely volunteer-based, which ensures an exceptional efficiency of scale: 98% of all donations & contributions are channeled directly to our beneficiary programs, maximizing the value of every donation for those we serve.

Internship Scope & Strategic Impact - Responsibilities and Tasks:

Sunshine Action is now seeking motivated and conscientious individuals to join our Summer Internship Program, commencing recruitment in early 2026 for our New York and London branches.

 

Key Responsibilities - Interns will be integral to our mission, with duties encompassing:

 

  • Program Execution: Planning and implementing physical poverty-relief initiatives, including the distribution of "Fortune Bags" containing essential food and supplies to low-income families.

  • Partnership Development: Liaising with and developing partnerships with local charities for collaborative event management.

  • Marketing & Outreach: Supporting marketing and promotional efforts to engage and expand our volunteer base.

  • Corporate Engagement: Contacting companies to solicit donations and in-kind resources.

  • Fundraising & Development: Organizing fundraising events and contributing to the drafting of grant proposals.

  • Innovation: Proposing and developing unique, self-directed charitable events or projects.

  • Operational Support: Undertaking other ad-hoc administrative duties essential to the charity's operations.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • A genuine and demonstrated interest in the charitable sector.

  • An excellent sense of responsibility and a detail-oriented approach.

  • Creativity and a willingness to think innovatively.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • A proactive disposition with the initiative to launch and manage unique projects.

  • The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

  • An interest in developing and refining leadership capabilities.

Internship Details

 

Period: A flexible start date in June or July 2026, for a minimum commitment of 9 weeks. Specific dates can be arranged on an individual basis.

 

US Branch: This role operates on a hybrid model. While we express a preference for candidates based in or near New York City, we also welcome candidates from different locations and countries.

 

UK Branch: Please specify if you are interested in helping our London branch. This role operates on a hybrid model. While we express a preference for candidates based in or near London, we also welcome candidates from different locations and countries.

 

Please note the following:

 

  • All organized events require in-person attendance.

  • General administrative work will be conducted remotely.

  • Tasks involving partner visits and event execution will be performed on-site.

  • As Sunshine Action does not maintain a physical office in the USA/UK, regular team meetings will be held virtually.
